V.A. - Personal Space: Electronic Soul 1974-1984

Personal Space compilation sends us almost 40 years back to America's 70's Soul scene, just on the brink of revolution which changed the way music is produced till today. The collection of tracks highlights the rise of bedroom soul/r'n'b producers who started making music home-alone with the aid of first drum machines, synths and other affordable equipment. Lo-Fi-obscure tunes from musicians like Jeff Phelps or Starship Commander Woo Woo can't be groundbreaking by today standards, but it's still a fascinating musical time capsule about electronic music. Especially with another revolution already in place - when a studio can be squeezed into laptops, only this time it's the emerging bedroom producers from Beats/Modern Funk/Electronica scenes taking over the internet.
