AD Bourke - Raw Ivy

AD Bourke from Rome, Red Bull Music Academy participant in 2008 and 2010, returns with a new EP album (you can even call it a mini LP album). Six tracks on ”Raw Ivy” are journeys through soulful depths of house music with a touch of funk. As Adam calls himself ”a producer who blends the emotions of soul and funk in a futuristic key”, this new album has proved his words about himself. Raw Ivy has already become my private must have position in my vinyl collection, which has been released on a beautiful, green wax. You can listen to the whole album below. Enjoy.

Kan Sano - Sun Ya / Bennetrhodes

Summer is just around the corner and this one could become a must have in your ipods very soon. Japanese beatmaker/ jazz pianist Kan Sano is set to relaease on 6th June some new material as the Bennetrhodes / Sun Ya project. Jazzy-laid-back atmosphere, mellow beats and classy backing vocals (like the one's in Sketch of A Dream) will surely provide the perfect foil for the upcoming months.  Can't wait!

Sasac – all pleasures

I’ve been keeping this track by the name of "all pleasures" in mind since its release day for about one month ago for this tune is simply too dope to let it exist undetected among one of the millions soundcloud profiles all around the world. Sasac, 'cause that’s the guy I’m talking about is from Stockholm, Sweden, and is experimenting with some of that future funk sound that has gained a lot of new fans since Dâm-Funk for real appeared in the game. No doubt that if Damon G. Riddick aka Dâm-Funk listened to "all pleasures", he would consider Sasac as ”1 of the truest in the game at this moment”.

Onra - Deep in the Night EP

Although the info is all over the blogosphere, but we just couldn't pass through on Onra's new EP. Here it is: Deep In The Night released on Brooklyn's Fool's Gold label, 5-track long, will arrive on 12 June. From a collaborative point of view T3 from Slum Village returns in After Hours and Amalia lays vocals along with a japanese newcomer Jay Kin in V.V.B. The Parisian brings new life to funk and boogie classics so my longshot is that Hold Tight will somehow flip 1981 funk staple from Change named exactly the same. Without further ado: first single from Deep In The Night - L.O.V.E and the tracklist:

1. After Hours feat. T3
2. L.O.V.E.
3.Somewhere (Deep In The Night)
4. V.B.B. feat. Jay Kin & Amalia
5. Hold Tight

Sweatson Klank - Elevate Me EP

Sweatson Klank, previously known as Take, resident of Los Angeles, California, through over a decade has risen to the top in the Electronic/Hip-Hop scene, fusing future-flung electronics with elements of avant-garde jazz and hip hop. After releasing pretty damn good Only Mountain (which was actually slept on by too many heads), an experimental journey through beats, Sweatson Klank returns with the Elevate Me EP, out now on Project Mooncircle. 5 track EP album is a blend of his letfield experiments, lush moods and hard hitting beats. EP came out on 12” clear vinyl – limited edition. Be quick as this one will go fast.

Shigeto - BTS Radio Guest Mix

It's a tough call to decide who's got the best guest mixes - Mary Anne Hobbs or BTS Radio. After listening to Shigeto's guest mix  on Andrew Meza's imprint, BTS this time got the edge. The mix is filled with leftfield electronica and layered musical textures from Zachary Saginaw himself and up and coming artists like Ichiro, Kyson, Raja and few others. If you're looking for new soundrealms then it's an absolutely essential download - get it HERE.

Acos Coolkass - Solar Wind

Theom016 - Acos Coolkas "Solar Wind" (Preview) by An-2 / Theomatic Recs.

Hailing from Omsk, Syberia (for a better perspective that's 2500 east from Moscow and 5500km away from London), Acos Coolkas (Constantin Atomas & Vasiliy Basalaev) part of Theomatic label from St. Petersburg roster released recently a killer 3 track nu disco/modern funk EP "Solar Wind". The title track burns slowly but oozes class while Fender Rhodes keys are leading the way. "Planetarium" orbits more around modern funk based around heavy synth work, little bleeps and distinctive effects in the background. grab the 12'' on Juno or HHV - definitely worth it.

Bilal "Cake & Eat It Too" (TEEKO RE-FUNK)

We are getting many signals from outside that the Future Bass Quartet under the name of The Starship Connection (B. Bravo, Teeko, D-Nasty, Bob-O) will release their first EP album through Frite Nite later this year (looking so foward to see this EP on wax). Meanwhile, one of the members of The Starship Connection, Teeko liberated a remix of Bilal’s track ”Cake & Eat It Too”, which could easily become a true representation of synthesizer funk. So this jam is a kind of a precursor of what is to come this summer & beyond. Enjoy!

DANIEL DRUMZ X TSD X NAWER

Nawer teams up once more with Daniel Drumz to produce another stunning piece of visual art. Talking about the track.. comparisons to Salva aren't out of place, and we're eagerly waitin' for more heat from the U Know Me Records representative. Remeber to check out and download Drumz' free track "Underworld Bounce" from our soundcloud profile:

DJ Mitsu The Beats - Beat Installments

Japan's finest beatsmith - DJ Mitsu The Beats did it again. Jazzy as always, Beat Installments consist of 10 lovely instrumentals with a Cro-Magnon cameo under the alias Takumi Kaneko. Mitsu's maintaning his signature smooth, laid-back sound and we have nothing against it here on Beatscapes (actually there's a deficit for proper Jazzy hip-hop beats at the moment). The overall sound is consistent and each track has it's twist and individual feel - Masquerade a bit of bossa nova, Slide has some soulful house feeling about it etc. Here's a little preview of what to expect - Snow Bunny, so soulful don't you agree?

Private Silence: "More" and "Lust"

Private Silence is a group of three talented musicians at Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense, Denmark. From time to time, they hit the studio together doing some late nite jammin’ sessions. The fruits of these sessions so far are two very mellow joints called More and Lust with warm vocals of Asia Kucharczyk accompanied by Roux Spana on keys and 3k on percussions. No doubt that we want More:

Private Silence - More

Vektroid - Color Ocean Road

Diggin' few months ago in the #chillwave tag on bandcamp I stumbled upon Vektroid's Neo Cali album and got totally blown away with those hazy lo-fi sound beatscapes. After months of waiting Vektroid is back with a 6- track EP Color Ocean Road. Again the synths are as smooth as it can get along with subtle, yet smart progressions throughout the tracks. $5,99 on bandcamp is a steal, don't know why you still hesitate:

Q Tip - For The Nasty Feat. Busta Rhymes (Freddie Joachim Remix)

Q Tip and Busta Rhymes have been close collaborators since early 90‘. In 2005 they met in studio again and recorded a track called For The Nasty, originally produced by The Neptunes. For whatever reason, this joint never found its way onto an album, and was just released as a single. Recently, a San Francisco based producer, Freddie Joachim liberated a dope remix of For The Nasty, turning the tune into a very jazzy, chilling and laid-back joint. This one will make you listen to some dope hip hop stuff from early 2000s. Enjoy.

Fire Fly feat. Mara TK (Opiuo's Been So Strong In 2008 Remix)

Now this one right here has for once more proved that the Australian beat scene together with New Zealand’s is definitely worth to keep an eye on. I’ve recently stumbled upon the remix of Benny Tones’ Fire Fly by Opiuo (Melbourne, Australia), which is a genuine masterpiece; kinda example of how electronic beats should be made. It has also turned out, that Benny Tones is getting ready with releasing “Chrysalis – The Remixes”, that was supposed to drop in 2011, but for any unknown reasons for us, it didn’t. You can still grab one of the 3 teaser remixes, just visit Benny Tones’ bandcamp (act quick, free downloads are limited to 200 each!).

Baron Retif & Concepcion Perez - Miami Feat Vindahl

Miami theme will continue for a little more here on Beatscapes as Paris based duo Baron Retif & Concepcion Perez released their new clip giving it the name as it is of Florida’s biggest and most famous city – Miami. Video is featuring Danish musician/singer/producer Vindahl. Miami is a little foretaste of what we can expect listening to  Baron Retif‘s & Concepcion Perez’s new EP, Cascades, which will drop on June 19th on Musique Large (Vinyl & Digital). If you liked the video, make sure you cop your EP when it’s out.

Malibu B - Downtown

There is never too much of classy synths with 90' Miami touch. Amazingly enough Malibu B is a native Hungarian born in Budapest so this kid knows what it's all about. Deeply influenced by the sounds of 80s and early 90s this tune is a perfect "summer vibe". Enjoy HQ free download (320).

Plug Research – Spring Forward Thinking

As spring is in full swing, forward thinking is quite crucial at this time of the year. It is therefore not a coincidence that Plug Research decided to call their new, free compilation Spring Forward Thinking. What we get are 12 very decent, brand new tracks from 12 different artists. Compilation is among others featuring Anthony Valdez, Hawthorne Headhunters, sene., Elephant & Castle, Thavius Beck and more. Definitely worth to have a look at it.

My personal pick from the compilation: Anthony Valdes feat. Miles Bonny - Begins:

Pomrad “Vlotjes” EP

Pomrad - Vlotjes EP Preview by OohWee

Adriaan van de Velde, better known as Pomrad is about to drop his first EP - "Vlotjes" on Oohwee Records. After watching the teaser video the EP could be considered as another modern funk release following the vintage trend but it really has much more to it with Pomrad smoothly blending bass music, funk and 80's electro sound. Look out out for this RBMA Bass Camp participant , because he could easily become Belgium's "best kept secret". Drop a line at orders@oohwee.be for the 12'' while listening to "Dans" (freebie) which sadly didn't make to the vinyl version (shame on you Oohwee!):

Souleance - La Belle Vie

SOULEANCE, a French duo consisting of producer Fulgeance and DJ Soulist of What The Funk who first hooked up back in 2006 dropped their new LP album called La Belle Vie (First Word). Souleance has also been previously playlisted by Gilles Peterson and one of their tracks has been put on one of the famous compilations by Gilles, Brownswood Bubblers. Their new album is including tracks from their previous released EPs rounded up by few tracks with guest appearances featuring Rashaan Ahmad, Shawn Lee, and Homecut. Everybody who is keen on fusion of different styles of music at one place, shouldn’t be disappointed as you can expect to hear hip hop, breaks or funky 80’s- boogie-disco style, genres that we love to listen to here on Beatscapes. Check it!

Kutmah - Worldwide Family vol.2

Kutmah presents Worldwide Family Vol.2 by Brownswood

There's only one possible outcome if LA's best beat-seekers and London's finest tastemakers join forces. "Worldwide Family vol.2" compiled by Kutmah and released on Gilles Petersons' Brownswood Recordings presents the Beat Scenes all-star line-up. Strong LA crew (FlyLo, Samiyam, Dibia$e to name a few) meets Britain - Hudson Mohawke, Slugabed, Mo Kolurs and newcomers such as ESMK and Lapti. Each track pulls the genre into another alley and that's what makes the record such a ear treat- you never know what deep vibes to expect next. Grab a copy at your local record store or online here. Don't forget to watch what Kutmah has to say himself about the project:
